2024 Apron Gala Volunteer Shifts

Join us for the best local food party of the year! The North Market Downtown Apron Gala features music, drinks and a fun three-course dining experience while strolling through the city’s historic market.  

We’re taking the opportunity to thank our community for their support and our lineup of wonderful merchants for their hard work.

Proceeds from this event help North Market Downtown to preserve and renew a unique experience for all members of the community by nurturing local merchant entrepreneurship, providing fresh and abundant food and food-related merchandise.

Additional Notes:

This event will be partially outdoors on Park Street and partially inside the Market House.

By volunteering you are supporting a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that manages the historic North Market!

You must be at least 21 years of age to volunteer for Apron Gala.

Event volunteers will receive a General Admission ($125 value) ticket and all that is included in exchange for fulfilling their assigned shift.

Parking is not included. Please arrange for offsite parking.

North Market will issue each volunteer an apron (half apron: waist only) to wear for the duration of your shift to identify you as a North Market Volunteer. We ask that you check out at the end of your shift by turning in your apron at the Admissions Tables and you will receive your general admission items to enjoy the event. *

* The only exception is the second shift for Admissions/Porter or Breakdown volunteers, who may check in for their shift early and receive their admission items beforehand.

SHIFTS: 

Set Up Description: All Spots Filled, 4:00 PM – 6:45 PM

Setup Volunteers will be assisting with event setup including but not limited to the following tasks: setting up tables/chairs, hanging up signs, arranging disposable table covers, filling coolers with bottled water and ice at admissions tables/bars and hospitality/sponsor tables, and setting up admissions booths. This job requires walking up and down stairs and the ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs. Please plan accordingly and wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Please check in for your shift 10 minutes prior to the start time at the north east entrance on Spruce Street (near the employee dock). Shift is from 4:00pm to 6:45pm.

Break Down Description: 5 Spots Available, 9:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Break Down Volunteers will be assisting with event cleanup and breakdown including but not limited to the following tasks: taking down tables/chairs, taking down signs, cleaning up table covers, emptying coolers with bottled water and ice at admissions tables and hospitality/sponsor tents, tearing down admissions area, and putting North Market back to normal. This job requires walking up and down stairs and the ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs. Please plan accordingly and wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Please check in for your shift 5 minutes prior to the start time at the Admissions Tables on Park Street. Shift is from 9:00pm to 11:00pm.

Bar Assistance – Starting Shift Description: 3 Spots Available, 5:30 PM – 8:15 PM

Bar Assistance Volunteers will be assisting the professional bartenders at each bar throughout the event, as directed, including but not limited to the following tasks: warmly greeting guests, assisting with bar setup or breakdown, getting water/ice for the bartender, serving guests drinks, and answering questions. Please check in for your shift 10 minutes prior to the start time at the Admissions Tables on Park Street. Shift is from 5:30pm to 8:15pm.

Bar/Event Assistance – Starting Shift Description: All Spots Filled, 5:30 PM – 8:15PM

Bar/Event Assistance Volunteers will be assisting the professional bartenders at each bar throughout the event, as directed, including but not limited to the following tasks: warmly greeting guests, assisting with bar setup or breakdown, getting water/ice for the bartender, serving guests drinks, removing trash, monitoring the VIP area and answering questions. Please check in for your shift 10 minutes prior to the start time at the Admissions Tables on Park Street. Shift is from 5:30pm to 8:15pm.

Bar Assistance – Ending Shift Description: 6 Spots Available, 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Bar Assistance Volunteers will be assisting the professional bartenders at each bar throughout the event, as directed, including but not limited to the following tasks: warmly greeting guests, assisting with bar setup or breakdown, getting water/ice for the bartender, serving guests drinks, and answering questions. Please check in for your shift 10 minutes prior to the start time at the Admissions Tables on Park Street. Shift is from 8:00pm to 10:00pm.

Bar/Event Assistance – Ending Shift Description: 2 Spots Available, 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM

 Bar/Event Assistance Volunteers will be assisting the professional bartenders at each bar throughout the event, as directed, including but not limited to the following tasks: warmly greeting guests, assisting with bar setup or breakdown, getting water/ice for the bartender, serving guests drinks, removing trash, monitoring the VIP area and answering questions.
