A Note From Dave

Supporting local farmers supports local economies

Dear North Market Shopper,

It’s that time of year again. Our Farmers Market is humming and this season our offerings will be better than ever.

This year, eating locally, supporting local businesses and local economies has never been more meaningful.

For more than 130 years North Market has been a hub of local food and local businesses all supporting a local economy.   And today things aren’t much different.

Chef Series Class with Michael Jones of The Greener Grocer

Wednesday, June 24 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Michael Jones wears many hats: he's owner of The Greener Grocer in the North Market, he's Executive Director of Local Matters and he's a trained chef. He'll be wearing his chef toque (not literally) when he teaches his class on Wednesday, June 24 in the Dispatch Kitchen as part of our Chef Series program. Michael knows a thing or three about cooking with local farm fresh produce and there's no doubt there will be a lot of it on the menu. Tickets (regularly $60) are on sale for $50 if you mention the newsletter when you call 614-463-9664 to register.

Belgian waffle and crêpe lovers rejoice! Belgian native Jean- François Flechet opened Taste of Belgium at the south end of the North Market this weekend! The tale of how Jean-François came to be a waffle-maker is as intriguing as his crispy caramelized waffles are delectable.
