Staff and Board
Visionary, creative and engaging are some of the adjectives North Market staff, merchants and board members use to describe David. After a successful marketing career (including 17 years with Red Roof Inns as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales) and years of shopping at the North Market, David took over the helm in August 2000. He has accomplished his original goals of making the Market more experiental with events, festivals and entertainment and enhancing the merchant-mix. David's community involvement, leadership and ability to build partnerships have been instrumental in the health and growth of the Market. A self described "foodie," Dave can often be found scouring the Market for the perfect herbs, cheeses, wines, meats and exotic fare for his next dinner party. On Saturdays during the growing season, you'll find Dave chatting with farmers about how to select vegetables and fruits that he later will whip into a culinary masterpiece.
Peggy joined the North Market team in June 2000 after a long and successful career in multi unit retail sales and operations management. Peggy was the Vice President of Operations for Tuckerman Optical for twenty-two years and when the company was sold she moved on to Cheryl and Company as the Director of their Store Division. The food service experience gained at Cheryl and Company has proven to be quite valuable to Peggy for her responsibilities at the North Market. At the North Market, every day is a busy day for Peggy. She is responsible for the leasing, facility management, and daily Market operations. Peggy is also responsible for the Farmers Market held each Saturday during the growing season each year. After years of being a regular shopper, Peggy could not be happier than to be working with the Merchants, the Farmers, and the other staff members at the North Market. Peggy and her husband Greg, live in Westerville with their two dogs, Sophie and Jimmy. Over the last two years Peggy has been learning the art of canning vegetables and fruits from her Mom. Peggy has found that there is nothing much better than sharing your homemade pickles, applesauce, or tomato juice with your family and friends. This year she plans on making canning a priority throughout the growing season. This will make it possible to enjoy the bounty from the Farmers Market throughout the year and it should be a lot of fun! Mary is excited to be the newest staff member at the North Market. She most recently worked for the up and coming Lynn and Pearl Alley Market in downtown Columbus. Prior to that she spent a four years as the Executive Director of the Short North Business Association. Mary increased membership and participation during her tenure for the Short North and founded Columbus' Via Colori Street Painting Festival. Mary is aware of the ups and downs of operating a small business having owned an art gallery, Transformations, in the Short North for five fun years. She got her retail start in management with Elder-Beerman Department stores. As a graduate of Miami University, Mary spent a year studying abroad at the Dolibois European Center and living in Luxembourg. In her travels through Europe she became enamored of the prolific markets there and how they reflect the lifestyle of the local residents. She is delighted that the North Market offers its unique perspective to the people of Columbus. Mary enjoys travelling with her husband Eric, taking photographs, decoupage, riding her 1963 vintage Vespa motorscooter and playing with her dogs, Wiley and Bruin.
After an impressive professional history with Micro Center and Red Roof Inns, Amy joined the Market staff in December 2000. In addition to her many administrative duties, her co-workers are always amazed by her ability to fix anything! Whether it's a broken door or a printer jam, Amy always manages to come to the rescue. Outside the office, Amy is a talented artist! She keeps very busy being actively involved in her kids' (Mike, Savanna and Jared) extracuricular activities.
