Video ~ Fresh, Local, North Market
Always fresh, always local….just a couple of the reasons to love the North Market.
Always fresh, always local….just a couple of the reasons to love the North Market.
The North Market has the privilege of working with some fantastic partners. This holiday season we’ve teamed up with local production powerhouse MediaSource to create content that speaks to the essence of what we try to accomplish here at Columbus’ only remaining public market. At the heart of our mission is supporting small local businesses who serve up fresh, local fare. You’ll find that to be a theme that carries through from our merchants to our farmers, our entertainment and our artisan events. MediaSource created this little video vignette for us (one of a series of 3 to come) that we think shows off our character…and our characters…quite nicely. Give it a gander:
Dear North Market Shopper,
It’s that time of year again. Our Farmers Market is humming and this season our offerings will be better than ever.
This year, eating locally, supporting local businesses and local economies has never been more meaningful.
For more than 130 years North Market has been a hub of local food and local businesses all supporting a local economy. And today things aren’t much different.
Every Saturday from now until late October local growers will bring their finest offerings picked fresh from the field. There’s nothing fresher, better tasting, more nutritious or more local anywhere.
In the Market House our community of 33 locally owned and operated businesses thrive with the highest quality ingredients and prepared selections. Shop the Market and you’ll find plenty of local food provided by local businesses supporting our local economy.
It must be a good formula; we’ve been at it since 1876.
Hope to see you at the Market.
Dave Wible
PS. Don’t miss our newest merchant and his fabulous waffles and crepes. Jean-François Flechet and his new business, Taste of Belgium is located at the south end of the Market between Omega Artisan Baking and Pam’s Popcorn.
The North Market supports thirty-plus small businesses seven days a week, twenty some farmers on Saturdays during the growing season, fifty odd (in number not in character) artisans on the first and third Sundays from May through October, and now on select Sundays, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Ohio Proud program, another dozen small businesses who are creating fabulous foodstuffs right here in the buckeye state. Ohio Proud Sundays will be held on the outdoor Farmers’ Market plaza at the North Market from 12 noon until 5 p.m. on the following dates: June 14, July 12 and September 13.
“At a time when there is growing emphasis on safe, local foods, the Ohio Proud Program is pleased to partner with the North Market to help consumers find wholesome Ohio-grown products,” said Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Robert J. Boggs. “Ohio Proud is the department’s signature marketing program that promotes more than 1,500 Ohio food and agricultural products ranging from fresh meats, fruits and vegetables, to dairy products, wine and snack food.”
