Farmers’ Market Update for October 29

Participating Farms:

Anderson Orchard  We are done for the season. We’ll see you in the Spring!

Blossom Acres Produce  I will have naturally grown beans, candy onions, collard greens, garlic, jalapeno peppers, lettuce, mizuna, mustard greens, peppers, potatoes, radishes, red beets, spinach and delicious red Russian kale (not as bitter as most kale).

Ehmann & Sons Greenhouse  We have MUMS in any shade and color you could imagine as well as pumpkins and assorted veggies.

K & R Garden Fresh Produce  We will have winter squash, collards, kale, turnips, tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers.

Ohio Farm Direct  We’ll be bringing our whole milk cheeses including cheddar, mozzarella, baby swiss, pepper jack, garlic and herb, tomato basil pinenut and lemon zest. 

Oink Moo Cluck Farms  We will be bringing our beef, pork and chicken.

Persinger Farm This week I will have beets, broccoli, cabbage, fall squash, gourds, onions, peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, tomatoes, zucchini and green beans.

Rhoads Farm Market We will have tomatoes, sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, eggplant, peppers, beets and turnips. Soon we will preview our cut and live Christmas trees for sale at North Market. 

Rock Dove Farm  We should have fennel, scallions, baby leeks, beets, carrots, turnips, radishes, kale, swiss chard, and parsley, sage, basil, mint, lemon mint.

Somerset Greenhouse  I’ll be bringing bittersweet, bunches of hydrangea, potatoes, garlic, lots and lots of peppers and lettuce.

Thomas Family Orchard We will have FIFTEEN varieties of apples and apple cider!

Toad Hill Farm   I will have arugula, lettuce mix, head lettuce, mustard, Asian stir fry mix, kale, parsley, potatoes (French fingerling, carola and blossom), winter squash (acorn, kabocha, butternut, delicata, dumpling, spaghetti ), eggplant, Tatsoi, Mizuna, Senposai (all three are mild west Asian greens in the cabbage/bok choi family and can be eaten raw or used in soup or light cooking/brazing) and ornamental corn turnips. Spinach is here!

Wayward Seed Farm We’ll have certified organic greens, sweet potatoes, winter squash, herbs, radishes, root vegetables and leeks. Come visit us in our new location at the north end of the pavilion!

Wishwell Farms Produce  We will bringing tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, acorn squash, spaghetti squash and butternut squash. We have a special on butternut squash this week: buy one, get one free. We will also have other fall items such as pumpkins, gourds, and Indian corn. 

Trick or Treat on Sunday

Come one, come all ye tiny ghouls, goblins, transformers and otherwise Halloween-adorned tots. The North Market will host its annual childrens’ Halloween party and trick-or-treat bonanza on Sunday, October 30 from 12-3PM. Your children will enjoy a safe indoor trick-or-treat experience as well as entertainment from face painting to crafts with Columbus Artmobile. Trick-or-treat bags provided and lots of fun to be had by all!

Scheduled Halloween Party activities include:
• North Market merchants open at 12-5PM.
• Trick-or-Treating at the North Market, 12-3PM while candy supplies last
• Mark Wood Fun Show, 12-3PM
• Crafts with the Columbus Artmobile, 12-3PM
• Bounce house on the patio, 12-3PM
• Bugman Enterprises with creepy crawlies, 12-3PM
• Face painting, 12-5PM

Kids’ Halloween Party at North Market and Columbus Children’s Theatre

Come one, come all ye tiny ghouls, goblins, transformers and otherwise Halloween-adorned tots. The North Market will host its annual childrens’ Halloween party and trick-or-treat bonanza on Sunday, October 31 from 12-3PM.

Scheduled Halloween Party activities include:
• North Market merchants open at 12-5PM.
• Trick-or-Treating at the North Market, 12-3PM while candy supplies last
• Backstage tours, cupcakes and punch at neighboring Columbus Children’s Theatre
Mark Wood Fun Show, 12-3PM
• Crafts with the Columbus Artmobile, 12-3PM
• Bounce house on the patio, 12-3PM
• Face painting, 12-4PM
Bugman Enterprises with creepy crawlies, 1-3PM
Melody the Clown, 1-3PM

If you’ve always wondered what goes on behind the scenes at Columbus Children’s Theatre this is your chance to find out! Our neighbors will have their theatre open with cupcakes and punch for your little Drama Queen or King and will be giving backstage tours of the facility. Staff members will be on hand to answer all of your questions about classes, performances and other ways your child can be involved in the arts in Columbus.

Farmers Market update for October 9

Anderson Orchard This week I shall bring sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos, pumpkins and free range antibiotic-free pork by the pound including bacon, bratwurst, Canadian bacon, ribs and sausage.

Beech Meadow Farm  Pasture raised “Buckeye” eggs, 100% grass fed, dry aged heritage Angus Beef, premium grass-finished pastured chicken, and we are now taking orders for pasture raised TURKEYS.

Ehmann & Sons Greenhouse  It’s time for fall MUMS! We’ll have a huge display with every color and variety that you can imagine!

Elizabeth Telling Farm CSA pickup only.

Hinkle Farm  Broccoli, cabbage, cut flowers, hot peppers (jalapeno, habanero), peppers, potatoes and tomatoes.
  
Oakvale Farmstead Cheese We will be bringing our family’s Farmstead Gouda (caraway, regular, habanero and aged) and flavored cream cheese including jalapeno, blueberry and cherry almond.
 
Ohio Farm Direct  Whole milk cheeses including cheddar, mozzarella, baby swiss, pepper jack, garlic and herb, tomato basil pinenut and lemon zest. The beef is always trail bologna, summer sausage, and beef sticks. What makes them stand out is the wonderful nutrition and taste that comes from the 100 percent grassfed cows.
 
Persinger Farm  I will be bringing SQUASH (acorn, butternut, delicata and spaghetti), gourds and peanut and white pumpkins (LOTS of pumpkins).
 
Rhoads Farm Market  Brussels sprouts, tomatoes and sweet potatoes. In December we will have Christmas Trees cut fresh from our farm. rhoadsfm@bright.net
 
Somerset Greenhouse  I’ll have herbs, garlic, hot peppers and lettuce.
 
Thomas Family Orchard We will have 17 varieties of apples this week and apple cider.

Kids’ Trick or Treat at North Market

Be sure to bring your little ghouls and goblins to the North Market for our Kids’ Trick-or-Treating and Halloween Party on Sunday, October 31 from 12-3PM. No RSVP required, just bring your costumed kids ages toddler to twelve to the North Market on October 31. We will provide trick or treat bags and activities including a bounce house, crafting with Columbus Artmobile, face painting, balloon twisting, a clown and creepy bugs!
