Weekend update for October 27 & 28, 2012

Participating farms include: Anderson Orchard: I will be bringing bittersweet, chestnuts, figs, sunflowers, mixed wildflower bouquets, tomatoes and wreaths. All of our produce is pesticide free.
Blossom Acres Produce: I will be bringing all naturally grown and chemical free arugula, basil, beans, bok choi, broccoli, carrots, cilantro, cucumbers, fennel, lettuce, mustard greens, onions, parsley, potatoes, pumpkins, red beets, spinach, squash, Swiss chard, turnips, watermelon and zucchini.
Ehmann & Sons Greenhouse: We’ve still got the most gorgeous mums in town! We will also have beets, cabbage, cauliflower, coleus, gourds, green peppers, ghost chilis, hanging baskets, Indian corn, eggplant, green onions, kale, mustard and collard greens, pumpkins, radishes, red cabbage, Swiss chard and turnips.
Honeyrun Farm: We will have new Spring, Summer, and Fall honey, chunk honey, cut comb honey, infused honey, honey sticks, lavender honey sticks, tulip poplar honey, handcrafted soap and beeswax candles. Stock up now as this is our last week at the farmer’s market!
Lucky Cat Farm and Bakery: I will have an assortment of the following breads: baguettes, country white loaf, whole wheat, foccacia, olive ciabatta, multigrain rye, traditional french sourdough (what we call Ohio Sourdough), hearty sourdough made with half whole wheat flour, dinner rolls, blueberry scones and raspberry white chocolate scones. All the breads are specially made with great care using the best ingredients available. The scones are butter scones which are less cake-like and more like a biscuit. They are made with Vermont Creamery cultured butter, Snowville creamery heavy cream and locally pastured chicken eggs.
Ohio Farm Direct: We’ll be bringing our whole milk cheeses including cheddar, feta, gouda, havarti, low fat low salt colby, muenster, mozzarella, baby swiss, pepper jack, garlic and herb, tomato basil pinenut, lemon zest and other flavored special blends.![]()
Persinger Farm: I will be bringing acorn, butternut and winter squash, beets, cabbage, collard greens, kale, onions, peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, watermelon, all kinds of winter squash and zucchini.
Rhoads Farm Market: Homegrown Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, cauliflower, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash, watermelon and zucchini. Great time to process the last of your vegetables for winter. Email requests to rhoadsfm@bright.net.
Rock Dove Farm: I will have arugula, basil, mint, pumpkins, purple top turnips, radishes, salad and Japanese salad turnips.
A Tasteful Garden: I will be bringing beets, chard, dog biscuits, eggs, greens, herbs, lettuce, onions, potatoes, spinach and zucchini as well as bratwurst, chicken, ham steaks, sausage and pork.
Thomas Family Orchard: We will have 14 varieties of apples and apple cider this week.
Toad Hill Farm: I will have arugula, bok choi, kale, lettuce mix, onions, parsley, peppers, poblano peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, Swiss chard, turnips and winter squash.
Toby Run Growers: I will have shitake and oyster mushroooms, sunflowers and gourds.
Wayward Seed Farm: We are bringing greens, mesclun mix, potatoes, pumpkins, sweet potatoes and winter squash.
Wishwell Farms Produce: We will have tomatoes, watermelon, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, spaghetti and butternut squash, zucchini and pumpkins.
*High Street will be closed from Goodale Street to Nationwide Blvd. beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday for Highball Halloween. Access to the North Market will be open from Park Street.
Artisan Sunday
Columbus’ creative class of artisans and crafters converges on the farmers’ market every Sunday from May through October peddling their handmade wares from 12-5PM.

Kids’ Halloween Party this Sunday
Come one, come all ye tiny ghouls, goblins, transformers and otherwise Halloween-adorned tots. The North Market will host its annual childrens’ Halloween party and trick-or-treat bonanza on Sunday, October 28 from 12-3PM. Your children will enjoy a safe indoor trick-or-treat experience as well as entertainment from face painting to live music to hat and mask decorating. Trick-or-treat bags will be provided and there will be lots of fun to be had by all!
Scheduled Halloween Party activities include: • North Market merchants open at 12-5PM. • Trick-or-Treating at the North Market, 12-3PM while candy supplies last • Music by Ian Hummel of the Shazzbots, 12-2PM • Mark Wood Fun Show, 12-3PM • Mask and hat decorating with Mad Hat Parties, 12-3PM • Bugman Enterprises with creepy crawlies, 12-3PM • Face painting, 12-5PM
