How long have you been farming?
I don’t really think of it as farming, to me it is gardening. I’ve been gardening ever since I was a young girl growing up in Italy. How long have you been coming to North Market?
I have been coming to the North Market for 22 years. I first started coming in 1988.What are your signature crops?
Oh, I grow lots of things that remind me of Italy: basil, of course, tomatoes, cucumbers, arugula and spinach. I make a special pesto that I sell at the farmers market and salsa sometimes too. What is important to you about selling your items at the North Market?
I like the people that I meet here and that come to visit me every weekend.
How did you become a farmer?
I grew up in a family of florists and gardeners. My family was in the flower business. In the United States I started growing vegetables for my family, but eventually there was just too much and I started bringing the extra produce to the North Market.Do you have any special farming practices?
I work very, very hard. I am dedicated to my garden and have to do a lot of weeding, especially this season as the weeds were terrible with the early rain. But gardening is a labor of love and I enjoy bringing the fruits of that labor to the North Market.
