Live Locally with the North Market this Season

At North Market we’re all about local: going local, eating local, acting local, supporting local. It’s simply the right thing to do. With some of the uncertainty we all might be facing, it makes even more sense.

First and foremost, eating local makes lots of sense. It’s fresher, healthier and has far less impact on our environment. It also supports local businesses, local economies and provides the opportunity for our community to grow and become more sustainable.

When we act locally, we act responsibly for or our families, our community and our environment. This holiday season, as every holiday season, North Market is all about local.

So much of what we have to offer is locally sourced, locally grown and locally provided:
Ohio’s only farmstead cheese, Oakvale Farmstead Gouda can be found at Curds & Whey. David and Cheryl Smith at Bluescreek Farm Meats sell hormone-free fresh meats, raised on their farm just north of Marysville (taste the difference truly fresh makes). Grapes of Mirth has a great selection of Ohio-made wines. Give them a try. I bet you’ll be impressed. Jeni locally sources so many of her ingredients for her award winning ice cream. Hers is a true local success story. The Green Grocer (retail arm of the not-for-profit, Local Matters) works tirelessly to partner with Ohio growers and offer the widest selection of locally grown produce available. When you buy a cup of coffee at A Touch of Earth, you not only patronize Ann Leonard’s Market business, but you help support Crimson Cup, a Columbus-based quality coffee company that supply’s Ann with her beans. The Source by Wasserstrom stocks a wide array of restaurant quality serving ware and is owned and operated by one of Columbus’ oldest family businesses. Early every morning our cadre of bakers from Expressly Market Bakery & Bistro, Mozart’s and Omega Artisan Baking rise to prepare fresh, delicious, locally-baked products. Dan Cooper hand dips fine chocolates right here in town for some of the best sweet treats you’ve ever tasted.

You see, at North Market you buy from people, not display racks. That’s the way it’s been since 1876. And there is a difference. It’s nurturing, personal, informative…it’s local and it’s part of our tradition.

What’s our secret to success? I’m not quite sure, but if you want fresh, we’ve got it. If you want choice, we’ve got that, too. If you want atmosphere, there’s none better. If you want to deal with people who are passionate about food, it’s North Market. If you want authentic, ethnic, unusual, fun, old-world…if you want the best in local foods, it’s still North Market.

This holiday season, like the past 130+ holiday seasons, North Market will be serving up exactly what the shoppers of our community want. The freshest seafood, meat, poultry and game. Unusual produce, cheese and ethnic specialties. Artisanal baked goods, ice creams and chocolates. Simply the freshest, the best, the most unique market in town.

If holiday traditions are important to you and your family, you owe it to yourself to come to North Market. The experience in fun, the food is great and the atmosphere is quite unlike any other.

The tradition lives at North Market and we hope you’ll keep us on the list this holiday season. And this holiday season, as in seasons past, our selection is tremendous, the freshness is unsurpassed and as always, the advice is free.

See you at the Market!
